Airtel Nigeria is working tirelessly in spreading their 4G LTE Service across all 36 states of Nigeria. Yesterday, on the 25th of September, Airtel Nigeria has announced the launch of its 4G – LTE (Fourth Generation – Long Term Evolution) service in Delta State, covering major cities and towns including Warri, Effurun, Asaba, Kwale, Ughelli, Sapele, Okpanam, and Agbor, amongst others.

Residents and onlookers who witnessed the launch at the Airtel Showroom located at 74 Warri/Sapele Road, Effurun by Water Resources, were full of excitement as they commended the telco for deploying 4G services in Delta State.

Akpodubakaye Arthur (JP), Vice Chairman, Warri South-West Local Government, said the switch to 4G will help speed-up economic and commercial activities as well as boost productivity of professionals, students and even traders across the state.

“We commend Airtel for its 4G drive and for connecting Warri and major cities and towns in Delta to its 4G network. This is not just a step in the right direction but a development that will transform many lives,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, the Regional Operations Director of Airtel Nigeria, Oladapo Dosunmu, said Airtel believes that delivering a superior 4G experience is a major step in actualizing its objective of making life simple and better for Nigerians.

The Airtel 4G LTE network supports Band 3 (1800MHz) which almost all mobile devices are using. Airtel bursts of speed 28.45 Mbps download speed and 8.77 upload speed. Moreover, the speed varies spending on your network signal or coverage.

MultiChoice has announced that it will break off its DStv Mobile TV service after 31st of October, 2018.

DStv Mobile TV has been existing since 2010 and it used DVB-H technology, allowing users to access DStv on their phone, laptop, or tablet via a Drifta mobile decoder.

The decoder received a DVB-H signal and converted it into a Wi-Fi signal for smart devices to access.

The service was N1,260 per month. DStv Premium customers received one Mobile subscription for free, with additional subscriptions charged at N1,260 per month each.

Over the last few years, technology has evolved as broadband access continues to grow. It’s not feasible to continue to maintain a separate land-based, dedicated network for this service alone, when an even better service can be offered to our customers on DStv Now via the Internet and Wi-Fi,” said MultiChoice.

As you can see DStv Now App is the main reason why Multichoice is ending its DStv mobile service. Drifta mobile decoder receives a DVB-H signal and converted it into a Wi-Fi signal for smart devices to access, but DStv Now does that over internet and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Microsoft has announced that the Windows 10 October 2018 update is now available. The company made the announcement yesterday 2nd of October, at a small press event in New York, though it’s obviously no surprise that Microsoft decided to roll out the October update in the month that gave it its name.

The new update is the sixth major update to come to the OS, following the November Update, Anniversary Update, Creators Update, Fall Creators Update, and the April 2018 Update.

The latest version of Microsoft’s global operating system comes with loads of new features, including your phone app, a new snipping experience, a dark theme for File Explorer, a cloud-powered clipboard, and new web sign-in and fast sign-in.

The most interesting of these is probably the new “Your Phone” app, which allows you to text from your PC using an Android phone that also runs Microsoft’s mobile companion app. In later iterations, that app will also sync notifications to your desktop, but for now, that’s not an option. There also are tools for continuing your workflow as you switch from your phone to PC (or vice versa). These features work for iOS users, too.

I think Digital Satellite Television (DStv) need to roll back its Subscription Fees and comes up with incredible offers before it is too late since it keeps losing its premium subscribers.

MultiChoice South Africa disclosed in June that it had lost many DStv Premium subscribers during the past financial year due to increased competition from Netflix.

According to a report from Mybroadband, DStv Premium subscribers across the pay-TV operator’s markets in Africa have been declining for the past three years.

Naspers’ annual results for the year ended 31 March 2018 showed that DStv lost 41,000 Premium subscribers.

2016/2017, they lost 135,000 DStv Premium subscribers.
Between April 2015 – March 2016 they lost 255,000 premium subscribers.

However, Its overall subscriber base continues to grow, but most of this growth comes from lower-end subscribers.

Despite all of this, MultiChoice plans on removing Sony Entertainment, channel 127 and Sony Max, channel 128 from DStv channel list.

Effect of October 31st, 2018, GOtv Max subscribers will also lose out on Sony Max but they will get new stations in replacement which are BET and Select Sport 5.
