In its bid to offer more value to customers, Globacom has declared an immediate increment in the volume of data for its subscribers buying or renewing Glo data bundles.

In a statement on Thursday in Lagos, Glo said extra data will be available to its subscribers who buy any of its data plans.

For instance, any new customer who buys a daily data plan of N50 will get additional data of 18MB, making a total of 50MB as against the former data value of 32MB.

The bonus includes 5MB of data useable at night between the hours of 12 midnight and 5 a.m.

Any Glo subscriber, who buys a daily data plan of N100 will now get 150MB, which will include 35MB of night data value.

Subscribers who buy the N500 data plan, valid for 14 days, will get 1.35 GB of data, instead of the 1GB they used to get before. A night time bonus of 550MB is part of the new package.

Subscribers who go for the N1,000 monthly data plan will receive a whopping 2.9GB inclusive of 1GB of data useable only at night.

There are other data bundle options up to N20,000. For instance, 12GB of data has been added to the N20,000, bringing the total to 138GB instead of the erstwhile 115GB.

The company stated that its data offers are currently the best at the market both in terms of the price points and the quality of the data service.

“The prevailing Covid-19 pandemic entails much more being done online by data users. People require reliable and affordable internet services to be able to work, shop, study, socialize, and do business transactions online. This is why we have empowered them with additional data value for every purchase made on our network,” the operator said.

Interested customers are required to dial *777# for a data plan of choice or via http://hsi.glo.com.

Then the statement added that the bonus plans will be available on Globacom digital platforms.

YouTube Music Now Rolls in on Android TV

Story 406531847

An update to the YouTube app for Android TV has delivered YouTube Music integration, wider HDR support, and some UI tweaks too.

Android TV’s YouTube app is getting a couple of welcome updates. Thanks to a server-side change, YouTube Music has rolled in on Android TV through the bigger YouTube app — Yep, it’s super weird.

This latest server-side update has been rolling out for a few days, and with it delivers a few notable tweaks. Immediately, some users will notice that Google has redone the icons along the sidebar with a slightly tweaked style. Also, some users have reported that HDR seems to work on more Android TV devices with this update. I haven’t encountered this myself, but it’s a welcome addition if it is rolling out widely.

The biggest change to YouTube’s Android TV app, though, is the addition of a music tab. YouTube Music has lacked an official YouTube Music app which, as the service prepares to kill off Google Play Music, is obviously a bit worrying.

To get YouTube Music on Android TV, Google simply integrated that functionality directly into the larger YouTube app. A new tab in the sidebar will pull in your recent YouTube Music mixes and listens along with your “Daily Mix” and other generated playlists.

Google announces 100,000 scholarships for you to earn an online certificate in these three courses:

  • Data analytics;
  • Project management; and
  • User experience (UX) design

The scholarships aimed at awarding certificates for some courses which are to be completed online, they are created and taught by Google employees, and hence do not require a college degree for one to be enrolled.

The courses are scheduled to be completed in three to six months and are offered through their online learning platform Coursera.

Google state clearly that it considered all of its certificates as the equivalent of a four-year college degree for related roles at the company. Wow, this is a wonderful opportunity you can afford to miss.

“This is not a revenue-generating for Google,” says the vice president of Google, Lisa Gevelber, who also leads Grow with Google and Google for Startups and serves as the company’s Americas chief marketing officer, if you can remember.

“There’s a small cost from the Coursera platform itself — the current pricing is $49 a month — but we want to ensure that anyone who wants to have this opportunity, can have it.”

According to Gevelber the Google Vice president, he says Google have chosen some specific fields of study where the scholarship would be focusing on. And these areas listed below.

1. Data Analytics

According to what was revealed to Forbes, it was gathered that as a data analyst you can earn $66,000 a year and the employee will be able to analyze data and make data-driven recommendations to enhance taking of important business decisions.

2. Project management

According to Google, it says that the course will focus on the foundations of traditional project management, and as well offer great insight into delicate management. The pay is about ($93,000) per year.

3. User experience (UX) design

According to Google, as a UX designer you will focus on the ” foundations of UX design and research, building low-fidelity designs and wireframes, creating high-fidelity prototypes and testing.” and its Pay is about $75,000 a year (median).

The courses listed above are the three areas the scholarship will be focusing on. According to Google, it says that these areas are going to take the lead in “high-growth, and as well will be a high-paying careers.” For those who successfully completed theirs.

Before I forget, Google IT Certificate was Google launched in 2018 majorly to diversify its own workforce of which it normally charges a token of about $49 per month. But these scholarships will cover up those costs.

Requirements for Application

You don’t need any certificate or degree in any field to apply. But as the course will base online, you will need your learning materials like; A good smartphone but Laptop is best with internet access.

How to Apply

The courses are hosted through Coursera.org

Coursera is an online learning platform. While Coursera charges a monthly fee of $49, Google will provide 100,000 need-based scholarships to cover the costs for those who are taken.

Microsoft’s Family Safety App is Now Available on Android and iOS

Story 408029918

You will recall that Microsoft announced last month that its new Microsoft 365 subscription service (formerly Office 365) would offer some family-oriented features, like a new ‘Family Safety’ app that combines screen time data across multiple platforms and provides tracking information. Following two months of a public beta program. The software giant, Microsoft has today shared that the app is going stable.

Microsoft Family Safety syncs across Windows, Xbox, and Android, so time limits for games and apps will be synced across multiple devices. This prevents kids from swapping devices to get some extra hours to play Minecraft or Fortnite. Specific apps can also be fully blocked.

Parents can see screen time data across all of a child’s devices, set time limits for certain apps/games, and configure web filters for Microsoft Edge (though only on Windows/Xbox). Family members can also see where everyone else is currently located on a map.

In addition to these features, Microsoft used the early feedback from the beta run to enhance the app in a few more ways:

  • We added a new feature to block or unblock specific apps.
  • We updated our designs to be more accessible and inclusive (i.e. improved visual contrast to help low vision users and provided additional context for screen reader users).
  • We added more time options for parents to quickly respond to requests for screen time (i.e. you can now easily add 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours or more of screen time).
  • We added location clustering to see when multiple family members are at the same location (i.e. when multiple people are in one place you can see that there are 4 people and zoom in to see who it is).

If you’re interested in giving the app a go, you can download it from the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

Story 410119853

Samsung is ringing in the next generation of foldable smartphones, starting with the anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 2. The successor to the original Galaxy Fold is bigger in size, better in the camera and design.

Details regarding the smartphone giant’s next foldable phone iteration were unveiled during its planned Unpacked event where the company announced a variety of new products, including the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra.

The original Galaxy Fold was arguably one of the hottest new phones when it arrived last year. However, its innovative concept was marred by a plethora of hardware issues caused by its foldable design. After almost a year since the original Fold hit the market, and a Galaxy Z Flip phone in between, Samsung is finally ready to put the rumors to rest by confirming recent leaks and revealing what consumers can expect from its next foldable smartphone entry.

According to Samsung, When folded, Galaxy Z Fold2 5G is a cutting-edge smartphone with a 6.2-inch screen, delivering one-handed comfort and when unfolded, Galaxy Z Fold2 to reveal a 7.6-inch tablet-like display, made with Samsung Ultra-Thin Glass for smooth flexibility.

It has a punch-hole camera for the inside and the cover display and there are triple rear cameras on the outside. It uses the same Samsung Ultra-Thin Glass that was used in the previous fold model.

The phone is thinner overall (it’s 6mm thick) and has a thinner gap between the displays, making it easier to fit into your pocket. Samsung says that it’s re-engineered the hinge, too, for greater durability.

The phone is powered by Snapdragon 865+ chipset, and it comes with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM plus 256 GB storage. The phone features 5G connectivity, both sub-6 GHz and mmWave. The company did not reveal any other specifications.

Please note that a P.O Box or PMB (Private Mail Bag) does not qualify as a valid and traceable address.

Mini Importation Business Sagas

Before I get started by telling you how to source for products, pay for it, and get it shipped to your doorstep. Let’s quickly talk about the saga that has been painted otherwise.

You may have been told that you can start importing products with as low as N10,000 and makeover N300,000 in 30 days. The truth is, your profit margin is dependent on the type of products and their unit cost.

However, you can start with that amount of money as your start-up capital base on the products I will reveal to you and make a lot of profit from it.

Secondly, they told you that you can beat Jumia and Konga or even PayPorte competition overnight. Meaning you will be successful almost immediately. Well, the truth is to succeed in any business, be it online or offline. You must have a formidable strategy. Your mini importation business will blossom as a result of your strategy.

Lastly, Jumia, Konga, and even Payporte did not acquire their success overnight. If your brain serves you well you will remember that Payporte had to sponsor the Big Brother Naija show which skyrocketed their business.

Overview of Mini Importation business in Nigeria

Before we dig deeper, it’s important we know the thick of this business. What is the importation business?

As the title connotes – The importation business simply means buying products from overseas at a relatively cheap price and resell it at a high price. It is simply buying and selling.

In addition, Mini importation does not necessarily mean small importation. It all depends on the size of your pocket. You can import products as high as 10million and resell it to make over 200% profits.

And at the same, you can buy products as low as 10,000 and make profits of over 50,000, to say the least.

How is Money Made in the Mini Importation Business?

The above rechargeable blender cost roughly N5,000 in Nigeria.

Look at the price on aliexpress.com, the price is $4.65. $4.65 x 380.50 = N1,769.32… That’s cheap, right?

Here is another example: Romantic Starry (women wristwatch)

As you can see one is sold between N5,500 – N8,000 in Nigeria. Whereas, you can get 5 of it for just N7,895.4 from the China online store. Imagine how much you will make as a profit when you order for it in the bunk.

From the above screenshot of the Rechargeable blender, you see that a product of $4.65 cost $14.54 to ship within 20-30 days. That‟s over 3 times the cost of the product.

When you do this, is that you pay more for shipment of the goods than the actual cost of the product itself and you will have to wait for a long period of time before getting your product. A smart importer will not use this method because only a little profit will be left.

Don‟t be scared! There is a way forward – the secret to shipping at a very low price is by using a logistics company to ship your product from China to Nigeria. This is the main tip you can’t get anyhow on the internet, but here I will tell you the trick, just relax and continue your reading.

Step by Step Guide on How to Start Mini Importation Business in Nigeria

  1. Source for Products
  2. Buy from a reliable supplier
  3. Pay for your products
  4. Product delivery
  5. Getting the brother-in-law price & free shipping
  6. Finally, market your products
  7. Sell your products and make money.

Step 1. Source for Products

The first thing you need to do if you want to embark on this journey is to source for your product. Here is what you should know. Most of the supplier’s websites are China-based.

You probably might be thinking of why China? Well, China is the largest producer (hot and fast selling products) in the world and their products are extremely cheap.

You can buy virtually anything from china ranging from clothes to personal products to health products. There are so many online sites today where Nigerians can buy items cheaply from china and have them delivered to their houses.

However, not everyone believes in online purchases because of bad experiences some of them have had. The belief is always that everything online is a scam.

However, the belief, it is not always the case when the rules are followed to the letter; one can actually avoid being scammed by buying from trusted sites and following the rules of the site. I personally advise that you buy from sites having Escrow service. What is an Escrow? You might want to ask. Don’t worry, you can get the meaning in any good dictionary or better still just relax you will know what it means in the next few sentences so just read on.

There are many international shopping websites you can use to import your products, some of which are:

❖AliExpress – www.aliexpress.com

❖Dhgate – www.dhgate.com

❖IPmart – www.ipmart.com

❖1688 – www.1688.com

And many more.

What you need to do now is head over to the above website and create an account with them. Also, make sure you confirm your registration.

It’s nothing difficult if you can create your Facebook account then you should be able to create an account with those too.

Once you are done with the registration, browse around the website and check for products you can buy and resell in Nigeria.

Step 2. Buy from Reliable Supplier

This might be the most important part you shouldn’t take lightly. Like I said earlier that the Nigerian government are to be blamed for lack of restriction placed on China inferior goods.

Because of the above, this makes some of the sellers or suppliers careless of shipping inferior products to Nigeria. But instead of being a victim of this there are ways you can outsmart them.

This is called the power of feedback. Before you make a purchase from any supplier, make sure you check the feedback score and rating for that supplier. You can allow scroll down below the products to read customer reviews on the product you about to ship.

This simple method will help in filtering the bad from the good suppliers.

The feedback rating is a powerful measure invented to protect customers from buying counterfeit products. You can always check if the supplier delivers as promised.

The ratings are usually between 0 – 100% and 0 – 5star reviews. I’ll recommend you always go for 90% and above rating and at least 4star reviews.

In addition, make sure you always go through the product description. Check the delivery methods free shipping always good if you’re willing to wait.

Also, check the sellers’ guarantee on the products before you ship them. All these are usually at the bottom of every product page.

Step 3. Paying for your Products

In the past years, this used to be the hindrance of venturing into the importation business. This is because there are no easy means of paying it’s always a long procedure. But thanks to the internet everything is now made easy. Back in your house in Nigeria, you can make payment for products in the US or anywhere around the world. It’s as easy as that.

There are several channels through which you can pay for your products, but they differ with suppliers. Some suppliers allow Mastercard or Visa card payment, some PayPal or Alipay. The point is payment for goods are now easier and this shouldn’t be a barrier to you.

Also, Read:All You Need to Know About ALAT Debit MasterCard Powered by WEMA Bank

About Fraud or Getting Scammed

You might want to ask, what if you’ve paid and you never receive your products? Or you pay, and the product is different from the description on the websites?

Well, all these are normal questions. These websites have some measures in protecting their customers. You can call it “buyers protection ” or also known as “Escrow ”.

One good way most Chinese sites now secure your money is called *Escrow*. It is based on the principle of a third party company, in this case, the owners of the site, holding on to the buyer’s money until the buyer receives the item in his own country and confirms that it is exactly what he ordered for, only then and when will the money be released to the seller. So you see, with *Escrow* you are covered.

In rare cases when your product happens to be different from what you order there is a “Dispute Form” that you can fill, and your money will be reimbursed.

Mind you, I’m not saying its 100% risk-free, but it’s unlikely for situations like this to arise.

Step 4. Product Delivery

Product delivery usually comes in two ways. This includes:

Free Shipping – usually slow but increase profits (between 14 to 60days) but most time it’s usually delivered between 20 to 30days. The service company can be China Mail Air Post or Hong Kong Mail services.

Premium delivery – these deliveries are usually done by DHL, EMS, and FedEx. Although it might be expensive compared to free shipping, but it’s always faster and safer (between 3 – 5days).

While the free shipping may be free, you should know tracking it might not be entirely accurate compared to the premium shipping.

In addition, while using the free shipping method you should always endeavor to put your phone number. This is because they are always delivered at the nearest post-office close to you. With this, you can be easily contacted whenever your shipment has arrived.

Extra Tips to Save Cost on Shipping

1. Mess Around with Dates. It’s obvious that the prices will always change with dates and seasons. Very fast means more money and slow means less money. So, mess around to save yourself some cost.

2. Remove Excess Packaging. After your first delivery go through your shipment and notice unnecessary packages that you can avoid the next time. This will help reduce the size and weight of your products.

5. Getting the ‘brother-in-law price’ Price & Free Shipping on 98% of Your Orders

Getting sellers to relax their conditions is not difficult as many people think.

Now, all the products on these import portals are pre-tagged with specific fixed prices, but with much familiarity, you can get the sellers to either reduce their price or wave off the shipping fee. This trick works!

Here’s a little sneaky trick I use; it has proven to work 98% of the time. Please, do not abuse it… It’s not a black hat, but you can call it a white hat.

Let’s go…
First, I get them to chat with me, this portrays some level of seriousness in you. They start to wonder why this buyer has opted for something a little bit different. ‘He/she could be a serious buyer’ they wonder!

Be friendly with them, crack jokes, and try to develop a personal relationship with them. If possible, ask for their phone numbers, yes call them if you can!

I tell them I’m a wholesaler in my country, and that I am new to Aliexpress (or any of the portals!), hence, looking for trusted suppliers who will be able to do serious business with me at favorable prices. (The “new to Aliexpress‟ stunt drives them nuts!)

Tell them how there’s a great demand for their product in your country, and that you’re currently trying out a couple of sellers on the import website. Whoever sells to you favorably automatically wins your heart and becomes your lifelong supplier.

Just tell them you’re interested in their product, and if they can promise to serve you favorably, you can forget every other seller you ought to have contacted and order from them.

At this point, the seller should say YES, (He is ready to serve you fine).

Ask them if they can reduce the price for you (if the product comes with free shipping already) or knock off the shipping fee for you (if you’re okay with the product price).

Because of the picture, you painted (wholesaler in your country, and that’s what you intend to be, isn’t it?), they will want to make you a life-long customer.

Hence, may want to relax their conditions to win you over.

Now, don’t expect to win in every case using this method. At times, you may find stubborn sellers stick to their conditions. In such a case, you either dance to their tune or move to the next shop. Remember, there are thousands of them in each of the portals.

The truth is, if you do your homework well, build a tight rapport with the seller, you must get some sort of discount from the original price.

Let’s look at another example, a product that requires you to pay the shipping fee.

You find a product that comes with some shipping fee… (Shipped through either DHL, FedEx or EMS!)

In most cases, except when you’re talking about high priced products, the cost of shipping a product through any of those mentioned above means is always greater than the cost of the product in many cases.

In that case, here’s what you do to have the product shipped free to you.

Note: I can guaranty that you’ll get free shipping for all products that come with some shipping fee, but won’t guarantee that 100% of the time, you’ll get your item shipped free via any of DHL, FedEx or EMS.

Copy that?

Free shipping all the time, but must not be shipped via any of DHL or EMS.

You know the reasons already!

The costs of sending via DHL, FedEx or EMS is higher, and except either you’ve built a tight relationship with the seller or you’re buying a good number of their products; they’ll always be slow to give a node to your free shipping request via any of these means. It‟ understood!

The truth is, almost all the sellers in these portals (especially Aliexpress) would easily ship your goods to you for free via any other means apart from DHL, FedEx, and EMS, if you use the sneaky trick I talked about earlier very well.

Let’s look at a practical case study below.

There was time I want to order for the Automatic Toothpaste Dispenser with Dust-proof Toothbrush Holder, the price is $4.89/piece, but goes with a shipping fee of $37.24 via EMS which is even more than the item price.

So I chatted with the seller and I requested that she wave the shipping fee.

Within a few minutes of our chat, she agreed to send the items for free, but via China Post (which should not take lesser than 14 days!)

But because I wanted the items to get to my place faster, I pressed on to have the items sent via EMS.

Then after about 8 minutes of our jovial chats later, she relaxed her conditions, which favored me greatly.

She finally agreed to send my items free via EMS if the sum total of my order is up to $300. Condition right?

I quickly ordered and in exactly 5 days, I received the orders.

What’s more?

I got all my subsequent orders shipped to me via EMS for free.

$37.24/item EMS shipping fee for each of the $4.89 Automatic Toothpaste Dispenser with Dust-proof Toothbrush Holder waved!

Lesson: Building a good rapport and business relationship first, makes the big difference guys! Do it!

Thanks to the sneaky method.

Now, upping the total sum of your order might not be the thing with every Seller. The tempo might change with different sellers, depending on the business rapport.

That settles the tip on getting the brother-in-law price and getting free Shipping!

Step 6. Market Your Product Even Without a Website

This is by far the most important aspect of the business. It will almost amount to a total waste of time and resources if you succeed in importing stuff at dead cheap prices and end up getting stuck with distributing and selling them off to make a profit.

As a matter of fact, any serious importer would want to make sure there’s a market already for the products even before s/he imports. That’s why in this chapter, I’ll be handing you some fail-proof methods to sell your imported products even without a website.
Yes, without a website!

There are ways you could do that… they include:

  • Selling to the Resellers
  • The Bait or Other People’s Money (OPM) Method
  • Kill & Divide Method
  • The ‘Pick Up Point’ Method
  • Get A Shop
  • Referrals Method
  • Handbills or flyers publicity
  • Local Ads, e.g. Magazine, newspaper
  • Internet marketing, etc.

There are several methods you can choose to market your business, but for the sake of this post, we’ll do just the internet for now.

So, how can you market your products on the internet?

This alone on its own it’s a full cause for another day. But for now, the one easiest you can easily grab is Facebook marketing. Facebook is a full marketplace that can never be exhausted.

How many times have you logged on to Facebook to find people advertising stuff on the middle or by the right-hand side of your screen?

In case you don’t know? Many of these guys that advertise their business on Facebook do not even have an office!

Yes, they sell their stuff right from their Facebook fan page.

How do they do this?
A simple Facebook fan page which is free, then promote it with Facebook Ads.

Let’s say you wish to sell something like Smartwatch, what you do is to create something like „Affordable Smart Watches For Nigerians‟, advertise it to get targeted fans to it, and then sell to the fans of your page using simple status updates.

Step 7. Sell your Product and Make Money

Finally, once you are done with marketing, obviously potential buyers are going to start rushing your way if you’ve done a good job.

You can either create an online store for your products and list them online or do it with the popular method if you don’t have the money yet to build an online store.

And, if you are interested in creating an e-commerce website, you can contact me via this Contact Us Page. I can design and develop a fully dynamic & responsive Website or Landing Page for you that will be eye-catching, responsive, Google-friendly at affordable rates.

For the latter part, you need to work with some courier agent to deliver your product and collect your money on your behalf. Among them are:

  • Ace.ng
  • Courier plus
  • Kos.ng
  • skyNet
  • Austin Dispatch, etc.

Some of them will require you to pay a certain fee to get started while some are free.

Finally, you should have it at the back of your mind that every business has its own ups and downs. One of ten of every order might be returned from your customer, but that shouldn’t discourage you. The profit margin will definitely cover-up.

Apple has just released iOS and iPadOS 13.6.1 to all supported devices. It is an unexpected update for the iPhone and the iPad, with some minor bug fixes.

The last version of iOS 13.6 is dated July 15th. Then we thought it would be the last update to iOS 13. Well, we were wrong! iOS 13.6.1 fixes a small number of bugs. The update is timely, as a bug that caused the screen of some iPhone models to distort at high temperatures has been fixed.

Sometimes it’s worth waiting a few days with a new iOS release, to make sure the new features don’t cause significant new problems. This is not one of those releases.

With iOS 13.6.1 (and iPadOS 13.6.1), Apple is just cleaning up the iOS 13.6 releases, fixing a couple of the bugs introduced with it. The full release notes are as follows:

iOS 13.6.1 includes bug fixes for your ‌iPhone‌.

– Addresses an issue where unneeded system data files might not be automatically deleted when available storage is low
– Fixes a thermal management issue that caused some displays to exhibit a green tint
– Fixes an issue where Exposure Notifications could be disabled for some users

Some features may not be available for all regions or on all Apple devices. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT201222

This iOS 13.6.1 may be the last update to the iOS 13 operating system as Apple has transitioned to working on iOS 14, an update that is set to be released this fall.

The iOS and ‌‌iPadOS‌‌ 13.6.1 updates are available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app. To download the updates, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

As seen in the Google Play Console listing, the Infinix ZERO 8 (with the model number Infinix-X687) will feature a MediaTek Helio G90 processor (the teaser video, however, mentions an Helio G90T, so we are more inclined towards believing in the same), which will be paired with a Mali G76 GPU and 8GB of RAM. The display of the device will feature a Full HD+ resolution with 1,080 x 2,460 pixels and a screen density of 480 DPI. PlayStation 5 – All You Need to Know About Sony’s Next-generation Console

Story 412838895

PS5, or PlayStation 5 as it’s fully titled, is Sony’s fifth home console. It’s the successor to the PS4, which released in November 2013.

PlayStation 5 is coming later this year, and following a series of the major reveal, we know more than ever about the next-generation console. Sony has unveiled its specs, design, and a number of games coming to the new machine. It’s starting to feel very real, and we can’t wait.

The price, release date, and specific launch titles for the PS5 remain unclear, with Sony confirming it will be revealing more and more details in the coming months. We still have a number of questions, but with a distinct focus on games at the forefront, PS5 already has an advantage over Xbox Series X.

In this PS5 article, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about PS5 including all the latest news, release date, games, specs, features, and more.

PlayStation 5 News

Sony has released a detailed FAQ on the PlayStation Blog, explaining exactly which existing accessories will be compatible with the PS5 when it launches later this year. With both the PS5 and Xbox Series X boasting about forwarding compatibility and fostering a growing ecosystem, it’s reassuring that both companies are now beginning to address questions that consumers have been floating around for months.

More specifically, a recent blog post from Sony delves into exactly which accessories will work on the upcoming next-gen console, and if there will be any limitations to their compatibility. Turns out there will be, but it’s handy to know exactly where the Dualshock 4 and other devices will stand later this year.

You can check out the full list (via PlayStation Blog) below:

  • Specialty peripherals, such as officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks, will work with PS5 games and supported PS4 games.
  • The Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via USB port or audio jack, will work on PS5 (the headset companion app is not compatible with PS5).
  • The DualShock 4 wireless controller and PlayStation officially licensed third-party gamepad controllers will work with supported PS4 games.
  • Both the PS Move Motion Controllers and the PlayStation VR Aim Controller will work with supported PS VR games on PS5.

Perhaps the most significant takeaway here is that the Dualshock 4 will be fully compatible on the PS5, but won’t work with any games developed exclusively for the new platform. Sony states this is due to PS5 games taking “advantage of the new capabilities and features we’re bringing to the platform, including the features of DualSense wireless controller.” Guess you’ll need two new controllers for local multiplayer.

PlayStation 5 Release Date

The PS5 will launch at the latter end of 2020.

While Sony hasn’t provided a specific release date yet, we imagine the PS5 will land in November, ensuring the console is comfortably in the homes of players ahead of the Christmas period.

We’ll be sure to share more specific the second we hear more, as it remains unclear whether the Covid-19 pandemic will have a lasting impact on the next-gen console launches.

PlayStation 5 Console – PS5 Digital Edition Look

The PS5 looks unique, with futuristic curves and a general look that’s very different to the subtle PS4.

There will be a digital-only version of the console, which lacks a disk drive, as well as a potentially more expensive standard version with a 4K Blu-Ray player.

Video footage has also shown the PS5 will feature both a USB-A and USB-C port, which means it should support old peripherals as well as looking into the future with new technology.

Not a fan of the white design? Then you’ll be pleased to know that special editions have already been confirmed, with PlayStation vice-president of UX design Matt MacLaurin claiming, “customization with special editions will be beyond anything seen before.”

PlayStation 5 Games Announced

A number of new PS5 games were confirmed during the official reveal event. You can see the list below:

  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
  • Demon’s Souls Remake
  • Hitman 3
  • Resident Evil 8: Village
  • Oddworld: Soulstorm
  • Deathloop
  • Sackboy: A Big Adventure
  • NBA 2K21
  • Godfall
  • Ghostwire Tokyo

Sony has also revealed exactly how physical games on PlayStation 5 will look once they’re unleashed into the wild later this year. You’ll notice the strip on the top of each box is now white, likely to emphasize the color of PlayStation 5. We’re still not entirely sold on the new look, but it’s likely something we’ll get used to.

PlayStation 5 Backwards Compatibility

The PS5 is confirmed to feature backward compatibility, as Mark Cerny (PS5 system architect) said, “PS4 graphics engines will run just fine on PlayStation 5”. A Legacy Mode was revealed for the PS5, which would allow developers to create PS4 titles for the next-gen console without losing any functionality. Those PS4 games will supposedly run at boosted frequencies, which could potentially result in improved visuals and performance.

PlayStation did suggest only the “top 100 PS4 games” will be supported by the PS5 at launch. Though, with more expected to receive the required patches at a later point. It remains unknown whether PS5 will adopt a “Smart Delivery” system like Xbox Series X. This feature provides players with a free upgrade to next-gen versions of existing titles, saving them a bunch of money in the process.

PlayStation 5 Specifications

Mark Cerny confirmed the specs during a video presentation. The PS5’s GPU features 10.28 TFLOPs, 26 Compute Units and a 2.23GHz variable frequency. The CPU, meanwhile, uses Zen 2 architecture and has eight cores. PlayStation claims this processor sees a 3.5GHz variable frequency.

The PS5 will also see a custom 825GB SSD, although storage will be upgradable with M.2 SSDs from the open market since the console features an NVMe SSD Slot. You can see the rest of the specs below.

PlayStation 5 Controller

The DualSense controller sure is an eye-catching bit of kit and the immediate reaction suggests it could be a Marmite of a device. There’s a lot to dig into when it comes to the little tweaks across the new DualSense (RIP DualShock 5).

Take a closer look and the new face buttons may get your attention. The new design looks set to ditch the colors we’ve become so familiar with and go for a muted look as well as a transparent/translucent design for the buttons as a whole.

Elsewhere on the front of the device is the new Create and Options button. Options keep its name but gets a new logo – replacing the text. While Share has become Create, represented by three fanned outlines. We don’t yet know what the change from Share to Create means, but Sony has said it will allow for new ways to “create epic gameplay content to share with the world.”

On the black area of the face of the controller, we have the signature analog sticks and a new button added for DualSense. The analog sticks do look extremely similar to the DualShock 4 however, there seems to be a slight differentiation in the pattern. Whether this difference means a new texture for the sticks, we don’t yet know.

The new button in between the analog sticks is for muting the microphone inside the controller. Sony says you can use the DualSense’s mic array for chatting with friends – however, it still recommends headsets for prolonged gaming sessions.

Moving to the top of the controller (we are still yet to see the back), the first thing to note is the absence of the light bar. Instead, this has been moved to a more subtle lighting effect behind the touchpad – suggesting PS VR support could be out for the DualSense.

The most interesting part here is the redesigned shoulder buttons. Sony is touting new adaptive haptic feedback tech for these new DualSense buttons and they’ve gotten a bit of a new look too – particularly the bumpers. The PS5 controller also appears to be joining modern smartphones in ditching USB-A, opting for a standard that’s slowly becoming universal – USB-C.

PlayStation 5 VR

It has been confirmed that existing PlayStation VR headsets will work with PS5 at launch, meaning there is currently no plans for a new iteration of the hardware to be released alongside Sony’s console.

This settles some worries while also raising a bunch of interesting questions. For example – will virtual reality experiences explicitly developed for PS5 also work with these headsets, and will everything we need to carry over?

There are also peripherals such as the PlayStation Camera and Move controllers, both of which are essential for the use of PSVR, so will presumably be operable on the new system without any significant effort from the player. If so, we’d be delighted. If not, Sony would be best to clear things up during the console’s eventual reveal.

PSVR has now sold an impressive total of 4 million headsets, cementing it as one of the most popular forms of virtual reality on the planet. The accessibility of only needing a console and a selection of games makes it a rather appealing proposition to your average gamer. Sony is aware of that and feels like the medium has a long road ahead of it.

“I think that the hardware experience will improve the VR experience. VR has a lot to learn even at companies that have been making games for a long time. I realized that as soon as I started VR. I had to learn a lot because I couldn’t do it with normal TV games,” said Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida (via WCCFTech).

“But we had to have many guidelines for danger, but with the developer’s ingenuity, we were able to see how to do it, and VR makes us think about what the human abilities are, and after three years such knowledge is growing.” Here’s hoping things will only continue to evolve with the arrival of PS5 in 2020.

PlayStation 5 Price

A Twitter user known as IronManPS5 has unveiled a number of potential prices for the PlayStation 5, Dualsense controller, and a number of other accessories for the next-gen console. Obviously, none of these prices are confirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt, but they’re within a ballpark that many could safely assume to be both accurate and competitive with the Xbox Series X. In a series of tweets, they list the following price points:

  • PS5 – $499, €499 and £449
  • Dualsense – $59.99, €59.99 and £54.99
  • Pulse 3D Wireless Headset – $159, €179 and £129
  • Dualsense Charging Station – $29.99, €29.99 and £24.99

The discless version will apparently retail for £349, but this almost sounds too good to be true for a next-generation console, especially given the powerful innards boasted by the PlayStation 5.

However, the other listings sound accurate when compared to previous consoles, so perhaps Sony will be offering its next console for cheaper than expected?

That is all for now about PlayStation 5. If you have any comments, suggestions, or tips please be sure to share them in the comments section below.

Nokia 8.3 5G is a Nokia-branded smartphone by HMD Global, running Android One. It is HMD’s first 5G phone, and was announced on March 19, 2020, alongside the Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3, and Nokia 5310 (2020). The Nokia 8.3 5G is claimed to be the first smartphone, which is compatible with all existing 5G bands.

The device is now available for purchase via Clove in the United Kingdom. However, Clove also offers global shipping via UPS and DHL, but be vary of import tax.

Note that since this is a “UK Model”, it will come supplied with an EU plug wall adaptor or EU Convert. Also, while the phone readily supports all 4G/LTE/5G UK and EU networks, this may not work for countries outside the area specified. The stock of the device is due September.

The variant featured on the site is a single SIM version, with 6GB RAM and 64GB expandable internal storage. Price tag runs about £460, or $545.31 for this configuration, but no mention of the higher 8GB/128GB model.

The Nokia 8.3 5G smartphones came with the upper mid-range Snapdragon 765G. It has a large 6.81-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display, with the impressive Pure Display technology. Of course, love it or hate it, the phone is part of Google’s Android One initiative.

But it’s the imaging that is quite interesting, and the one that I’m personally interested about. It has a 64MP main camera (which sensor is unknown for now) with an f/1.9 aperture lens, paired with a custom 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and two 2MP camera for macro and depth sensing. On the front, it has a 24MP camera punched unto the display. All the camera sensors are equipped with a ZEISS lens.

What’s interesting about the phone is not its main camera, but the accessory 12MP ultra-wide-angle. While the lens is a dimmer f/2.2, Nokia Mobile says it is a “specialized lowlight ultra-wide” with a large 2.8um super pixels, and native 16:9 aspect ratio sensor. It is also advertised for its video capability (with HDR) with an exclusive ZEISS video cinematic effects.

You can purchase the Nokia 8.3 5G on Clove UK via this link.
